Grab a seat.  I am about to provide you with my opinion on a set of in-ear headphones that are going to disrupt the industry.  Only one or two times prior in my hundreds of articles written, have I ever raved about a product in the first paragraph.  I am actually so stunned at the purity of these ‘ear-buds that I have switched them off with several other headsets to make sure that I am actually hearing this.  I can truly decipher my music library in a different way with specific songs that have never sounded like this thorough any in-ear headphone; ‘Take this Waltz’ by Leonard Cohen is a great example.

These headphones are 1More Quad Driver In-Ear Headphones and they aren’t out on the market just yet…sorry.  Stay tuned though.  The ‘Triple Driver’ version of these were released last year, and since, we have seen audio sites and forums go absolutely nuts with so many raving about the ‘Triples’ and their pure sound qualities.  Who would have figured a relatively new audio name from Shenzen, China, could stand beside names like Sennheiser, Grado, JBL, Bose, Sony…and take the audio industry by storm.  

The 1More Quad Driver In-Ear Headphones come in a book style package with a story to tell.  The package includes the headphones themselves, leather case, airplane audio adapter and even a clip to contain the cable, 1/4″ gold plated adapter… and 9 different shapes and sizes of soft tips.  

The story and rough drawings are hand written by Grammy winning Sound Engineer Luca Bignardi who personally tuned the final product.  The result is very professional and a great introduction to the 1More Quad Drivers.

As for composition, The headphones themselves are a bit larger than most might expect, the anodized alloy ‘aircraft engine’ shape having become a necessity with the construction of the Quad Driver in-ear  headphone.  They are very comfortable, do a great job of cutting down external sounds and the inclusion of the metal stem make them very easy to place.  They are formed to fit your ear canal naturally so only go in one way.  Don’t fear though, ‘L’ and ‘R’ is labelled on each if the feel alone weren’t obvious enough. Cabling is 100%  copper with a  Kevlar sheath and there is a 3 button mic remote for taking calls, changing songs, starting and stopping music as well as adjusting the volume. 

As for the headphones themselves, this earphone is based on a Diamond-Like Carbon Dynamic Driver for low end sound with three balanced armatures, all tuned to their own frequency.  These headphones have a range of 20-40,000Hz, have a 1.25m cable and also feature a gold-plated connector.

For my analysis, the music I chose is somewhat diverse but not  solely what has formed my final thoughts of these headphones.  As I sit here listening to these still, my Senn’s are right here as well; I have switched off headphones several times just to confirm that there is that different of a sound.  Don’t get me wrong; I have much respect for sound quality from Senns but … well… 1More has just stepped up the game for in-ear headphones.

From the outset, the 1More Quad Driver In-Ear are the best ear-buds I have had in my ears to date.  I cannot say that tuning of Luca Bignardi may be responsible for this, but there is definitely an audible difference between these and other in-ear buds.  I find the bass to be very natural and not over powering at all, maybe even a bit too controlled?  Instruments are very crisp and clean with mids subtle and allowing a great transition from lows to highs.  

Perhaps the one thing that I am impressed with more than any other, however, are vocals. Admittedly, I am a fan of female vocals and, if you want to hear the absolute best these ‘buds’ can sound, throw in an older song ‘Stay’ by Shakespeare Sister.  The range of notes that Siobhan Fahey and Marcella Detroit hit are amazing, and truly felt with the 1More Quads.  Similarly we can jump across the music spectrum to hard hitting songs such as Niki FM from Hawthorne Heights or Du Hast from a little known German band, Rammstein, and they are just as pleasing to listen to.  Lastly, Leonard Cohen…  If I didn’t know better, I would believe these 1More In-Ear Quads were made and tuned to listen to his music specifically.   I have never heard ‘Tower of Song’ or ‘Take This Waltz’ sound quite as nice.

REPORT SUMMARY AND FINAL THOUGHTS

Admittedly, I cannot compare the difference of the Quad drivers to that of the Triple Drivers as I don’t have the Triple’ on hand (hint hint).  That makes no difference though as the 1More Quad Driver In-Ear Headphones are the best I have had to date.  They are very  well built, professionally packaged and, most importantly, their sound is absolutely amazing.  The only hiccup is that they aren’t out just yet, Stay tuned and you will find them available on the below link very shortly.

For now though, the 1More Quad Driver’ are awarded our Editor’s Choice, and deservedly so.  These will be with me always in my travels worldwide.  Now that’s music to our ears!
